Effect of surface curing temperature on depth-specific physical properties of poly(urethane-isocyanurate) foam panels in relation with local chemical composition and morphology

Processing low density poly(urethane-isocyanurate) (PIR) rigid foam boards still remains challenging, especially for high thickness panels with the spontaneous formation of two-dimensional wrinkles. Increasing double-belt conveyor temperature (mold in this work) was regarded as a way to increase rigidity base material and, ultimately stiffness PIR under facing. For that purpose, samples simulating real were prepared at different mold temperatures and chemically analyzed using ATR-FTIR spectroscopy while Shore durometer (type OO) used estimate various locations model panel. Obviously, isocyanurate content facing found but surprisingly hardness demonstrated reverse effect. This result explained by decrease layer increases, thereby counteracting probable itself. In addition, characterizations depths (rise direction) indicate chemical mechanical gradients occurring first 20–30 mm tend disappear increases.
